Green Building
Aspen Properties is proud to do our part in conserving our resources & environment by working with Austin Energy, Lusardi Construction and our other partners to achieve Austin Energy’s Green Building Rating. Below is an abbreviated list of the environmentally friendly things we have done and will continue to do at Aspen Lake.
- Use an Energy Star reflective roof to reflect solar energy;
- Exceed the Austin energy code by at least 15%;
- Exceed the Austin plumbing code by at least 25% for indoor water consumption;
- Use only low VOC interior paints & coatings;
- Provide for the storage & collection of recyclables;
- Be located within ¼ mile of at least 2 bus stops;
- Provide outdoor spaces on site to enable building occupants & visitors to connect and enjoy the natural environment;
- Use high efficiency irrigation, rainwater catchment and/or climate appropriate plant materials;
- Reduce irrigation water by 75% over baseline;
- Use mechanical systems and monitoring systems to ensure optimal parameters for thermal comfort;
- Be constructed with low-emitting building materials;
- Meet city drainage and water quality standards for runoff;
- Recycle or salvage at least 90% by weight of demolition & land clearing debris.
